Geotechnical Analyst

The role

East Point Geo is looking for a Geotechnical Analyst to join its growing team. The experience level of the role is flexible and the role may be awarded as a senior role, depending on the successful candidate’s level of experience and capability. The Geotechnical Analyst will work as part of a team on engineering and consultancy assignments for a range of offshore and onshore engineering projects primarily in the renewable and oil and gas sectors, specialising in analytical engineering assessments of geospatial data.

The Engineering Geoscientist will be responsible for technical contribution and some project management aspects of East Point Geo projects and is also expected to support the development and generation of new business prospects.

Technical project work contributions will cover many aspects of East Point Geo’s core business and will include:

  • Analytical assessments, typically with a geospatial component, such as cable burial risk assessments, probabilistic geohazard assessments, excavation volume calculations, etc.
  • Basic geotechnical analysis for foundation design and slope stability assessment
  • Geotechnical and geological data appraisal and gap analysis, geotechnical parameter assessment and empirical derivations
  • Development of fit-for-purpose analytical solutions to technical problems and queries arising from project work and/or as part of technology development projects
  • Development, management and execution of quantitative risk assessments
  • Support to ground model development work and other project work within the wider team
  • Site visits, including travel globally

Flexible working arrangements will be considered.

Qualifications and experience required

The successful candidate will have proven geoscience skills and will have experience working in the offshore industry.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be qualified to a degree standard in Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Geography or other related subject
  • Have 3 years or more of experience in a relevant earth-science, engineering or geospatial related role
  • Have a working knowledge of the offshore engineering industry
  • Have a working knowledge of soil mechanics and basic foundation geotechnical design
  • Have experience in interpreting, analysing and presenting geo-data
  • Be proficient with standard Office software, specifically MS Excel, MS Word and MS Powerpoint
  • Be proficient in the use of ESRI ArcGIS and/or other GIS software and have the ability to think and understand in three dimensions
  • Have excellent attention to detail, high level of numerical accuracy and good self-checking
  • Have excellent report writing skills and communication skills
