Midstream Oil & Gas Consulting
ABL Group’s oil and gas specialists have been at the forefront of offshore midstream development for over 20 years. Our teams of marine and engineering consultants include specialists in subsea pipeline engineering and SURF technology, with project experience covering some of the world’s most high-profile and complex subsea pipeline installation projects, including NordStream 2, Turkstream, Trans-Anatolian (‘TANAP’) amongst others.
With natural gas as the lowest-carbon fossil fuel and transmission dominated by pipeline infrastructure, midstream has a growing role to play as energy transition takes pace across oil and gas sectors. Through our long-term knowledge and worldwide pipeline expertise, we understand the complexities and risks involved in pipeline construction, as well as cost and time pressures. With that in mind, we provide a broad service offering to support pipeline projects from early planning and feasibility, through to construction, operations and maintenance, and decommissioning, helping our clients to deliver projects with optimum results.
Pipeline Engineering, Installation & Operations
ABL Group has provided valuable contributions to subsea pipeline construction projects across Asia Pacific, Africa, Europe, and the Americas – with a deep understanding of unique environmental and logistical challenges depending on the location. We have worked on pioneering pipeline construction projects including the Turkstream pipeline which included the Pioneering Spirit for pipelay operations – the first time the vessel has been used in this capacity.
World-leaders in marine warranty survey for pipeline installation, we have an in-depth practical and theoretical understanding of key challenges in pipeline projects – including tunnelling, pull-in, trenching and backfilling operations. To provide a comprehensive risk-mitigation strategy, we also offer a range of other marine assurance and risk services, engineering and consulting, to support pipelay work at different projects stages, including with removal operations at decommissioning.
Our engineering and consulting experts from group company Longitude Engineering includes expertise in marine operations engineering, metocean and coastal engineering, advanced analysis and simulation, amongst other areas. We also combine technical engineering know-how with in-depth marine experience from our large team of mariners, supporting the safe delivery of pipelay operations in some of the world’s busiest shipping lanes, for instance, the TANAP pipelay across the Bosphorus.
Our marine assurance and risk expertise cover all types of marine vessel surveys and inspections to support the selection and approval of proposed construction and support vessels, including world-class capabilities in dynamic positioning (DP) systems, and FMECA.
LNG Project Expertise
Natural gas is the fastest-growing fossil fuel at over 20% of the global energy mix, with the incentives it can offer as a ‘transition’ fuel as the lowest emitter of greenhouse gases compared to oil and coal. As a result, the demand for global LNG is projected to continue to grow.
ABL has stayed ahead of this market growth, by supporting as MWS on a number of the world’s most significant LNG developments, including Ichthys, Gorgon, Yamal LNG and LNG Canada.
