About

Nick joined ABL Group in 1999. He has many years’ seagoing experience with slow and medium-speed diesel engines, and has served in all ranks including 5 years as Chief Engineer.

He has worked on a wide variety of vessel types including bulk carriers, Ro-Ros, general cargo and reefer container ships.

Nick has wide-ranging experience of casualties and disputes, including bunker disputes, Charterparty disputes involving issues of seaworthiness, surveys and investigations of main and auxiliary machinery, turbo chargers, deck cranes, steering gear, propeller damage and electrical equipment. He has conducted damage surveys following fire, flooding, collision and grounding.

Nick has attended as expert witness at a number of arbitrations and in court, in the UK and overseas and has been involved in numerous notable cases such as “NAPOLI”, “UNION POWER”, “OCEAN VICTORY”“BRILLANTE VIRTUOSO” and “ATLANTIK CONFIDENCE”.

With Lloyd’s Register of Shipping he was Senior Surveyor in the Technical Investigation Department involved in investigation of marine/industrial machinery failures and preparation of technical reports and was Senior Surveyor in Fuel Oil Bunker Analysis and Advisory Service (FOBAS), involved in routine analysis of marine fuels and lubricants and related technical investigations.

Nick is an Aspiring Full Member of the LMAA and has received numerous appointments as arbitrator.
