Gina Krog contract to Aqualis Offshore
March 2016 – Aqualis Offshore were contracted by Megaline to provide engineering design on the topsides grillage and seafastening system for two transportation shipments from South Korea for the Gina Krog project.
Aqualis Offshore’s work scope was to perform grillage and seafastening design using finite element analysis (FEA), including vessel strength check and deflection. Both loadout (by skidding and self-propelled modular transporter) and transportation load cases are considered in the FEA.
Megaline’s heavy transport vessels Mega Caravan and Mega Caravan 2 will be used for the two voyages from the fabrication shipyard in South Korea to the Gina Krog field at the Norwegian continental shelf. The vessels will carry the 11,000 MT module support frame, process module, unity module and the flare bloom.
