AqualisBraemar Houston raises money for multiple sclerosis

15 members of the AqualisBraemar Houston group recently participated in the BP MS 150, a two-day fundraising bike ride through the hill country of Texas organised by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. We had a total of 13 Cyclists, 1 Motorcycle Safety Marshal, and 2 campsite volunteers. The MS 150 is the largest event of its kind in North America with 13,000 cyclists, 3,500 volunteers and countless spectators along the route and at the finish line in Austin. The 180 mile journey starts in Houston, stops overnight in La Grange and ends in Austin. Unfortunately, due to flooding of the route, day 1 of the ride was cancelled, but the team was able to successfully complete a hilly 68 mile ride from LaGrange to Austin on day 2 without any injuries or flat tires!

All together the team raised $7,563.00 in funds to go towards research and ultimately the cure for multiple sclerosis. These funds are also used to provide education, direct financial support, and scholarships to individuals and families living with MS. Most of the cyclists in the group are beginners who purchased their first road bike early this year and began training in January in the nearby George Bush Park. Everyone who participated is looking forward to the full 180 mile ride next spring!
