LOC Wins 5th MWS contract with Vietnamese Nearshore Wind Farm Award

LOC, part of AqualisBraemar LOC, is pleased to announce it has recently been awarded a contract to provide Marine Warranty Services (“MWS”) and consultancy, to support the development of the first phase of the Vietnamese Nearshore Wind Farm project (“NWF”), TRA VINH NO.3 at locationV1-3. This is LOC’s 5th MWS contract on a Vietnamese nearshore wind farm since the start of 2020.

The OWF project is located in Vietnam’s Tra Vinh Province, a coastal inter-tidal area. Construction is being undertaken by the Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corporation (“REE”), a top 30 listed company, established in 1977. REE today is a publicly traded diversified business group operating in the primary fields of M&E engineering services (M&E); manufacturing; real estate development and management; and power & water utility infrastructures.

Under the terms of the agreement the LOC team will review and approve the loadout and marine transportation operations of components between local ports and the OWF site. The teams will also review and approve lift installation activities, using barge cranes or separate crane vessels, for the primary structures and equipment on site.

The first phase development of the OWF will consist of 12 turbine units, each with 4 megawatts (MW) capacity, generating c.48MW in total. The development will also consist of a 22/110kV station, with 1×63 MVA capacity, and c.21 kilometres of 110kV transmission line. The turbines will be installed in water depths of between 3-7 metres, subject to tidal changes and locations, using multi-pile concrete capping foundations.

“LOC is delighted to be awarded this contract by Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corporation. This follows other project wins in Vietnam’s nearshore wind sector this year and last, and reaffirms the Group’s recognised reputation as a leading provider of MWS services in the South East Asia energy market.”
