David Guzman, Senior Consultant – Wind, Solar, Storage | ABL London

What do you do at ABL?

Senior Consultant working in the Onshore Renewables team. Our team works on onshore wind, solar and energy storage projects. My role involves providing independent engineering, owner’s engineering and yield assessment services to renewables projects globally to a variety of clients.

What inspired you to go into the field you are in?

Having studied Mechanical Engineering at university I wanted to apply my knowledge to providing a greener future. Having an initial keen interest in wind energy, I spent my master’s degree concentrating on renewable energy systems which led me to solar, wind and energy storage. Now I am in the position to apply my knowledge working as an Onshore Renewables consultant, I feel as if I am in a great position to have a positive impact on the future of this planet.

What is the most exciting aspect of the energy transition for you?

The variety and ever-changing nature of projects allows me to apply my experience and knowledge to support projects globally, therefore, contributing to the energy transition we are currently going through.

The direction of the ABL Group and the growth of Onshore Renewables team makes the work very exciting. The ABL Group allows me to work on projects all over the world, and our expertise as a company means we get to contribute substantially to a project, no matter the location. This allows me to work on a broad range of projects that are very rewarding, as we are providing a positive impact to both the industry and the efforts for a greener future.

What is the most exciting aspect of the energy transition for you?

Spending time with friends and family is always when I am happiest. I love staying active and being outdoors. This is usually climbing, playing football, or going on a long bike ride when the sun decides to show its face in London! Also, having grown up on the South Coast, I have a strong affection for sea and any water sports based activities.

I also have a giant soft spot for food, whether this is a meal out with friends or the odd visit home to enjoy some of my parent’s Spanish delicacies.
