Meet the team: Anna Pulo | OWC

The team at ABL Group shares the passion, vision and values for working in energy and the world’s oceans, de-risking and driving the energy transition. We are driven by the idea that the best work is born from professionalism, diligence… and fun. You know ABL Group, but do you know our team?

Anna Pulo, Senior Consultant with Wind & Site | OWC Netherlands

What do you do at OWC?

At OWC I work within the Wind&Site team, my expertise is primarily in wind resource and energy yield assessments and I am experienced in analysing both onshore and offshore wind farms. It is a role which involves analysing wind data, building wind flow models and assessing uncertainties, all to determine the energy yield of wind farms. It is a niche topic within the wind industry; one which comes with quite a few technical challenges, which makes it all the more interesting!

The Wind&Site team at OWC is relatively young, having been created only two years ago, and we are growing fast. I joined OWC just over a year ago from another consultancy. As the team grows, my job also involves training the new hires, mentoring them and reviewing work with quality assurance.

What inspired you to go into the field you are in?

My studies were mathematics and physics, which meant that I could move into quite a few technical fields. However, I always had an affinity for renewable energy and the field that I work in seemed to combine my interest in both the sciences and renewable energy. It’s a win-win!

What do you enjoy about working at OWC?

OWC has a young energy that is continuously looking forward to be the first in new markets, new technologies and hiring the brightest minds. This makes for an exciting job that is at the very forefront of the wind industry and all the challenges that comes with it. It is also helps that my colleagues at OWC bring together such a great collective of knowledge, experience, and passion for the work that we do that it automatically creates a fantastic environment to be around.

What is the most exciting aspect of the energy transition for you?

The energy transition has been in the making for a little while now but in recent years we’ve really seen a cohesive effort to propel it forward. There is a lot of innovation and ground-breaking advancements in this field, which are exciting to witness and give so much hope for the future. These changes also bring about an overhaul to how we perceive our energy ownership, energy consumption and the way we live our lives. It is definitely exciting to be even a small part of this change.

What do you enjoy in your spare time?

In my spare time I wind down with a good book or movie. I also enjoy spending quality time with friends and family over a nice meal and drinks. If I have some time off, travel is one of the top things for me. I enjoy experiencing somewhere new and different with its own unique culture, food and ambience.
