Amy Dowdeswell, Senior Consultant | OWC, London
What do you do at OWC?
Based in London as a Senior Consultant, I provide consulting advice to a range of clients on the development and operations of offshore wind farms. This can involve anything from generating a project development plan for a future windfarm, advising on potential operations and maintenance (O&M) approaches or conducting market assessments of the offshore wind industry.
What excites you the most about our industry?
I am excited that I work in an industry that is making a positive contribution for generations to come. Not only are the projects complex, technological advancements are enabling the progression of the industry, whether that’s larger turbines or windfarms in deeper waters, meaning there is always something new to learn and understand. The industry is constantly advancing and it’s exciting to be a part of.
What made you join OWC?
I joined the OWC London team in 2020 from a global engineering, design and project management consultancy. In my previous roles I focussed on both the offshore wind and oil and gas industry, with work primarily focussed on the design and integrity of an asset’s foundations. What appealed to me was the breadth of projects OWC advises and supports, enabling me to gain exposure to much more diverse processes, stakeholders and the whole lifecycle of an offshore windfarm.
What do you do when you are not working?
In the COVID-19 world that we’re living in, it’s been pretty tricky to catch up with friends and family as much as I’d like. Away from work, I try and find time for the things I enjoy such as cooking, travelling and studying. I do love wine and the science behind it, so spend time learning about this and trying to taste and compare as much as possible.
