ABL Group’s day on the farm

ABL Group’s London office, including teams from ABL, OWC and Longitude, recently got together to give a little bit back to the local community, with a day of volunteering at Aldenham Country Park’s Care Farm.

Rural Care hub at Aldenham provides work-related experiences for people with learning disabilities and/or mental health needs in a supportive and caring environment. Co-Farmers are supported by an onsite team of qualified and experienced staff to take part in purposeful activities while having fun and making new friends. Having started out with one shed, now the Care hub has expanded across four sheds, and provides a safe, fun and developmental environment for up to 35 adults and 95 students weekly.

Our team supported the hub by insulating the most recent ‘House on the Hill’ shed, which is used for students with additional needs who attend for work related learning in animal care and horticulture. The shed needed to be insulated to create a conducive learning environment plus keep Co-Farmers warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The ABL Group team also gave it a well needed coat of paint.

No task was to small as the team then finished prepping the base for the new tool shed, erecting the shed, and finishing up with giving it a first coat of oil. Additional painting of window frames and benches concluded the day.

Rural Care is hugely grateful for the outstanding contribution ABL Group made on the event, and we in turn are grateful for the wonderful experience and opportunity to bond off-site with our colleagues.
