Technical Lecture: Dynamic Position Systems for Incident Free Operations?
Sen Abhayasinghe, LOC’s Group Technical Authority DP Services is presenting a technical lecture titled ‘Dynamic Position Systems for Incident Free Operations?’ for IMarEST on the 21st February 2018.
The purpose of Dynamic Positioning systems (DP) is to enable a vessel or a rig at sea to maintain a predetermined geographical position and heading over the seabed using its propulsion and/or thruster systems to generate thrusts that nullify the effects of environmental forces predominantly wind, current and wave actions. The presentation will address the concept of Dynamic Position, its application and modes of system failures and their effects.
