ABL JH143 Guidelines: Key Findings & Market Implications

Introduction to the topic
This session provides an overview of the new ABL JH143 Guidelines and their application to shipyard and repair yard risk assessments. Attendees will gain insights into key risk factors influencing builders’ risk and ship repairers’ liability exposures, including fire, project complexity, contractor management, owner responsibilities, and emergency preparedness.
The presentation will also examine the challenges of achieving consistent risk grading across survey providers and demonstrate how a standardised assessment methodology can improve transparency, comparability, and underwriting confidence throughout the marine insurance market.
The technical presentation will be followed by a Q&A and finalised with a summary of last month’s high-cost marine casualties.
