Eric Lapeyrouse

Eric has worked in the field of Dynamic Positioning (DP) since January of 2007. He started in the field of DP with a company known as International Marine Systems (IMS), which is a division of Edison Chouest Offshore (ECO). His duties at IMS included installation, commissioning, and maintenance of the Marine Technologies (MT) DP System, as well as the MT Integrated Bridge System (IBS). After one year with IMS, he was transferred to Brazil for one year to work with the local ECO shipyard for the same duties listed above. He was also responsible for training the local personnel in Brazil for the duties listed above. After one year in Brazil he returned to the United States to resume his former position. During this time he would expand his scope of work to include automation systems, such as Machinery Alarm systems, valve control systems and Power Management Systems. He would continue with this position until January of 2011.

In January of 2011, he was asked to join the FMEA group that had been established by ECO. His duties included writing FMEAs proving and annual trials, and performing FMEA proving and annual trials on board ECO vessels. While still at ECO, he would later supervise the commissioning of vessels that had been converted from DP1 to DP2. 

In July of 2012 he accepted a position with GL Noble Denton, now DNV. His duties were performing DP proving and annual trials. He also wrote and modified such documents as FMEAs, Proving Trials, PSTPs, and QFA DVTPs. He also worked with DNV’s pipeline group, verifying site drawings for DNV’s client PG&E out of California. He also acted as a project manager for several key clients such as Hornbeck Offshore, Oceaneering, Eastern Shipbuilding, VT Halter, Odyssea Marine, and Ares Marine. Eric would continue with DNV until March 2026.

Eric now works for ABL as a Principle DP Engineer and surveyor, conducting many of the same duties above, as well as Marine warranty surveys.
