ABL presents at the Singapore Maritime Market Briefing

Tim Hough, Principal Surveyor for ABL Singapore and Chun Keit Wong, Marine Surveyor Singapore, presented at the June Singapore Maritime Market Briefing on the topic of ‘’The Basics of LNG Vessels and Case Study’’. The presentation took place on the 6th of June at the Lloyd’s Lounge in Singapore. His comprehensive presentation focused on the review of LNG vessels in the market today, their common design parameters and the types of failures which are most prevalent.  

Tim also shared some very interesting insights on LNG’s position amongst future fuels, LNG bunkering from shore and from ships and explained the reasons behind the higher cost of claims for LNG vessels followed by case studies and specific examples.

The introduction to the day was done by Capt. Simon Healy, ABL Regional MD for the Asia Pacific region and the case studies were presented by Chun Keit Wong, Marine Surveyor at the ABL Singapore office.

Tim is a marine engineer with a Class 1 Stream Certificate of Competency, having spent 14 years as a seafarer with Shell International on LNG vessels, he went ashore and subsequently spend 9 years as a Technical Superintendent and Technical Manager with Ship Owners and Ship Manager’s.

His industry experience includes involvement in LNG life extension and conversion projects during his time as a ship manager, examination of fleet performance, project management, dry dock trouble shooting and planned maintenance strategies. Recently he has been involved in the operation of DFTE plan, exhaust scrubber and BWT installations and low Sulphur fuel conversions.
