Meet Tammi Nicklin, ABL AIM Training Service Manager, ABL Scotland
The team at ABL Group shares the passion, vision and values for working in energy and the world’s oceans, de-risking and driving the energy transition. We are driven by the idea that the best work is born from professionalism, diligence… and fun. You know ABL Group, but do you know our team?
What does your day-to-day look like at ABL?
My day-to-day at ABL is dynamic and multifaceted, encompassing both relationship-building and strategic planning to drive the success of our commercial training courses that we offer as part of ABL’s Asset and Integrity Management division. By staying agile and proactive, I aim to continuously elevate our training programmes and deliver maximum value to our clients and stakeholders.
Cultivating new partnerships and collaborating with external suppliers and independent contractors to expand our network and presence to bring fresh perspectives to our thoughts and ideas, this will support the journey on meeting the demands of our clients.
What inspired you to go into the commercial training field?
My journey into commercial training started after having a family. I began on the operational side, administering open and in-house courses. I discovered a passion for people management and assumed various leadership roles and then management responsibility that covered the technical and operation teams.
Throughout my 25-year career offering a portfolio of management systems, food sector and now O&G training, I have remained committed to driving excellence and innovation in the training industry.
Can you tell us about something exciting you are working on right now?
Heading up the strategy for growth and market awareness of the AIM division’s course offering is an aspect I am excited to be working on. Our Field Maintenance course and range of Process Safety Management courses are designed to support companies in the oil and gas sector to reach and maintain high performance standards and increase competency across their teams.
I’m also really enjoying working with our partner SynergenOG on a range of courses, covering Barrier Management, Effective Risk Assessment, HAZOP, HAZID, ALARP, Quantitative Risk Assessment and Process Safety Management. This collaboration brings CPD accredited courses to our offering and it’s great to bring together both ABL and SynergenOG’s training experts in these fields.
Our training courses previously sat within the Add Energy Academy and were then rebranded following Add Energy’s acquisition in 2022 to sit within ABL. With ABL already having established service offerings within the oil and gas sector, it’s promising that we can now offer these courses that pertain to the oil and gas industry to our current clients and new ventures.
What does the future look like for the Asset Integrity Management training course portfolio?
With the foundations in place the future looks very exciting, it will bring another element to our current service offerings in ABL’s AIM division and support our client’s needs through continuous improvement and feedback.
By staying agile ensuring we have innovation and listen to the voice of the customer. With an increase and awareness of competency challenges throughout the industry, there is a growing need to be able to offer innovative, dynamic and up to date training solutions for our clients.
