About the Introduction to Rig Moving MWS and Associated Hazards
ABL’s Introduction to Rig Moving MWS and Associated Hazards course offers a comprehensive foundation for understanding the risks and processes involved in offshore rig moves. Delegates will explore different Jack-up rig types, operating modes, and footing designs, while learning to assess stability and operational risk.
The course covers past incidents to highlight critical safety lessons, and builds knowledge around the importance of effective communication and coordination among key stakeholders to ensure safe and efficient rig deployment.
Learning outcomes:
- Identify and mitigate risks, analyse past incidents for improved safety, and understand the different types of Jack-up rigs, their operating modes, and footing designs
- Equipped with the knowledge to ensure safe rig deployment and operation, assessing stability, and minimising operational risks
- Understanding of Geotechnical Challenges: Delegates will be able to identify and describe common geotechnical challenges encountered whilst conducting rig move operations, such as uneven and sloping seabeds, scour, spudcan/footprint interaction, and debris and boulder interaction
- Mitigate Hazards: Delegates will gain knowledge in the strategies and methods used to mitigate hazards associated with geotechnical challenges in the planning stages of rig moves. This will help reduce any delays during the operations
- Understanding of the importance of effective communication and coordination among team members, rig operators, and field operators
- The knowledge and skills for a safe and efficient rig move
