Oleg Schastlivtsev

Master mariner with over 20 years’ combined experience both at sea and ashore, marine warranty surveyor, OVID inspector. 

Oleg joined ABL Group in 2014, as a master mariner based in London.  Oleg has over 20 years’ combined experience at sea and ashore, including command experience and has served on various vessel types such as bulk carriers, general cargo, passenger, Ro-Ro passenger, container, and multi purpose vessels, carrying break bulk and project cargoes.  

He is also actively involved with now ABL Group marine warranty projects as a project manager.  Oleg is a member of the energy team at ABL Group taking the role as project manager for offshore and onshore energy projects and providing support on existing projects and other ABL Group business activities as required.  Project activities include site attendance, OVID and suitability and marine assurance surveys. 

Oleg is an accredited OVID inspector and carries out condition and pre-purchase surveys for different types of vessels. 

He has a variety of ship management experience ashore, holding positions such as of bareboat charter manager, DPA, and CSO and as a marine superintendent, responsible for implementation and auditing of ISM, vessel general running and maintenance, dry-docking, ship’s technical audits, selection and training of crew and liaison with Class, P&I Clubs, Hull & Machinery Insurance and IMO.  

Oleg holds dual nationality with Russian and English passports and is fluent in both English and Russian. 

Oleg is full member of the Society of Offshore Marine Warranty Surveyors and has been registered as qualified in the following categories: Project Cargo (C), Oil & Gas Projects (P) and Renewables (W), membership number is: 0379.
