ABL & OWC Attend FWS 2022 in Houston

Catch up with the ABL and OWC team at Floating Wind Solutions 2022 conference & exhibition in Houston, 1-3 March. Attending will be:

  • John MacAskill – ABL Group Marketing Director & OWC Principal Consultant & Director
  • Craig Brown – OWC Principal Consultant – Energy Market Studies Services Lead

John will be contributing to a panel from 08:15-10:00 on 2nd March. The panel is titled: ‘Supply Chains, Local Content and Port & Harbor Infrastructure’. John will be covering the topic ‘Maximising the Floating Opportunity for Ports’.

As floating wind accelerates, with ambitious targets and national pipelines being established in many markets, the opportunity for developing supply chains is vast. Local content in many markets is part of the policy balancing and comes with a political expediency, but when balancing cost/risk and project execution, sometimes trade-offs have to be made. Ports infrastructure however is the pivot point that all offshore wind project development depends, it is the landing point for content, and the take off stage for the projects.

Just ahead of the historic ScotWind lease awards which included 15GW of floating wind capacity, John MacAskill looked at the local content prize…and the challenges. It is this analysis that he will bring to this conference. Read John’s blog, ‘The Real ScotWind Prize’.

ABL/OWC brings around 40 floating projects of experience, from the US West Coast to Asia and the recent ScotWind leasing process, where it helped clients land 5GW of the 25GW available and as OE on the 100MW Erebus project.
