AqualisBraemar at the 2018 Neptune Regatta

Some members of the Singapore staff recently represented AqualisBraemar, as part of the Motor Yacht Rally Fleet, in this year’s Neptune Regatta – a sailing race to the equator through the beautiful waters of Indonesia. The starting point was Nongsa Point Marina in Batam, Indonesia, 11 miles from Singapore. From there the ‘Neptune Fleet’ sailed almost 50 miles to Fish Head Island for a stop-over with dinner and drinks. The next day almost another 50 miles on to the breath-taking Neptune Island, aka Pulau Sikeling, for 3 nights’ fun, relaxation and repairs, as well as the 7-mile sprint to the equator and an 11-mile race around the island itself.

The islands south of Batam are a magnificent sailing ground. With volcanic peaks rising in the distance on the larger islands of Temiang, Singkep and Lingga, which rest behind a multitude of tropical islands leading to the jump-off point for the equator, Pulau Sikeling (N0°08’.00 E104°13’.98), offering protected anchorages and stunning white coral beaches. The Race to Zero makes for a yachting event unmatched in the sailing calendar.
