We are incredibly proud to release this joint announcement of Tilo Klappenbach and Hamish Forsythe being promoted to Country Manager and Operations Manager in Germany respectively.

Ian Cummins

“Both Tilo and Hamish are well positioned to not only continue but enhance the exemplary work that has characterised our operations in Germany in recent years. Tilo’s engineering expertise, honed over a decade in the maritime T&I industry, complements Hamish’s own engineering and business development experience in renewables and oil & gas. This synergy across Engineering, Operations, Project Management and Delivery domains positions ABL Germany exceptionally well to grow our offering in Germany and the wider region. Tilo & Hamish’s collaborative leadership is the cornerstone upon which we will grow within the German market and the wider region.”

Ian Cummings, Regional Managing Director Europe & West Africa

Tilo has over ten years of experience in the maritime T&I industry as a naval architect and has a broad range of skills including operational, project management, consultancy in MWS services, heavy lift shipping and T&I engineering.

After working for several years for a European T&I contractor, Tilo joined ABL Germany as our Engineering Manager and has managed the technical team ensuring successful delivery of multiple projects.

Tilo has also played a significant role in building and expanding industry relations, contributing to our operational success and ensuring client demands are satisfied.  His leadership style has encouraged open communication, trust and focus on client satisfaction.  These are all key attributes for the future growth of our business in Germany and the region.

“I’m very excited about growing our team at ABL Germany to offer a wider range of services, tailored to the diverse and expanding needs of our clients in the energy and marine sectors. We aim to bring on board skilled individuals who will help us provide top-notch support and forward-thinking solutions to match the needs of this rapidly evolving market’’

Tilo Klappenbach, Country Manager, ABL Germany

Hamish has been with the ABL Group since joining LOC in 2017 and in that time has worked as a Naval Architect & Project Engineer from our offices in Southampton, Aberdeen and Stavanger, predominantly undertaking MWS project works for major offshore operations.  He holds two Master  Degrees. One Master of Engineering in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from the University of Strathclyde and one Master of Science in Energy Transition Systems and Technologies from the University of Aberdeen.

In 2022 Hamish was promoted to the role of Business Development & Strategy Manager for ABL Europe & West Africa where he has been instrumental in implementing new strategic methodologies, utilising his experience in Engineering, Operations and Project Management and Delivery to support the evolving needs of the region.

Over the previous year Hamish has built positive relationships with key industry contacts from across the region. By using these relationships, his collaborative working approach, his engineering expertise, and his Project Management and Delivery skills, Hamish is well positioned to support the clients of ABL Germany going forward.

“I’m thrilled to become part of ABL Germany during this dynamic phase for the company. Our strategic positioning allows us to uphold exceptional service standards for our clients, not only in Germany but also throughout the entire Baltic region. With the backing of the ABL Group, a leading global independent provider of offshore marine and energy services, I am confident that, working alongside Tilo and the dedicated ABL Germany team, we will foster lasting and positive relationships with both new and existing clients. This collaborative effort aims to contribute significantly to the de-risking of the offshore sector, especially during this exciting period.”
