Meet the Team: Benoit Briere

The team at AqualisBraemar LOC shares the passion, vision and values for working in energy and the world’s oceans, de-risking and driving the energy transition. We are driven by the idea that the best work is born from professionalism, diligence… and fun. You know AqualisBraemar LOC, but do you know our team?

Benoit Briere, Snr. Project Manager | Innosea

What do you do at INNOSEA?

I work as Snr. Project Manager for INNOSEA, managing projects at both commercial and execution phases in offshore wind and floating solar mainly. Depending on the type and size of the assignment my role can vary from acting as main contributor, as the project manager or as a member of the project management team.

I feel lucky to be part of a company and group filled with experts, who specialise in a broad range of specific domains. I probably work across a more varied scope, applying my engineering background to a range of technologies. I see my role often as being the glue that keeps all various stakeholders on the same page on a given project, talking megawatts and hectopascals in the morning, man-days and project logistics in the afternoon. It’s a bit of a juggling act, but it also means every day is a little bit different!

What excites you the most about our industry?

I started working in offshore wind in 2012 in Denmark, on Danish and German projects in particular. At the time offshore wind was still in its early days – especially in France – and the bankability of the whole sector was still questioned at times. It has now changed completely, with the industry going global, changing scale from MW to GW projects. New challenges come with this evolution, and I am really excited about the next chapter.

What made you join INNOSEA?

I spent two years working for INNOSEA in Nantes between 2014 and 2016. I appreciated the energy in the team, enjoyed the assignments, and made a lot of friends whilst working there. After a few years living overseas and then working from the utility side of renewable energy projects, the opportunity arose to join the company again. I have been working for INNOSEA in Marseille since January this year.

What do you do when you are not working?

If the weather is right, I will probably be sailing. I try to spend as much time as possible on the water really. Living in Marseille nearby the sea, I feel lucky to have the opportunity to enjoy it the year round. I find it relaxing and somehow time goes by differently: an afternoon sailing probably equals a week off the daily routine for me!
