What does your day-to-day look like at ABL?
Usually my day-to-day includes managing the operations in Turkey and working with clients to achieve the best results for them along with coordinating the team. Othertimes the job requires me to get hands on and perform site attendances and compile reports. Overall, a challenging but very rewarding role.
What inspired you to join the industry?
Growing up, I always had a fascination for the seas. This coupled up with rewarding challenge of applying engineering to this unique environment drew me into the industry. I then went on to study Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and later obtained a Masters in Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering.
Can you tell us about something exciting you are working on right now?
At the moment, I’m collaborating with a team of almost 10 surveyors on a large-scale floating dock project. Working on this kind of project is always very rewarding as it requires collaboration and knowledge sharing between our offices and surveyors to achieve amazing results.
What does the future look like in energy and oceans in Turkey?
In my opinion, offshore wind development in Turkey in collaboration to hydrogen, which could emerge as a clean fuel option for maritime operations are the future but also present challenges. Port infrastructure will require major upgrades and will potentially influence the future of shipbuilding in the country and the wider Black Sea Region.
