What inspired you to join your industry?
Growing up in India, I was surrounded by the Indian Navy and Coast Guard ships that where launched at the shipyard where my dad worked. Their sheer size and structure sparked a love for the maritime world, leading me to explore the seas myself. Eventually, I settled in Singapore, a global maritime hub, to build my career.
What does your day-to-day look like at ABL?
At ABL, every day brings fresh challenges and rewards. I navigate the business landscape, uncovering opportunities for our clients whilst tailoring solutions that safeguard their financial and environmental landscape. Stakeholder management within the maritime salvage is my forte. When situations get dicey, I transform into my clients’ on-site representative, assessing and managing risks, exploring opportunities, and minimising financial and environmental impact.
Can you tell us about something exciting you are working on right now?
The maritime industry is constantly evolving, and even salvage operations are changing. While I’m always ready to go to the site, my current focus is more strategic. Presently I am working to understand the gap between the salvage response resources and technological advancements which are resulting in the size of ships, alternate fuels and associated machineries. By bridging this gap, I’m helping ensure we’re prepared for any maritime salvage challenge the future throws our way.
What do you enjoy outside of work?
I do have hobbies outside the maritime domain, which include watching formula 1 races, cricket and reading books. Some of the good reads for me include, The Infinite Game, Give and Take, Hidden Potential & Never Finished. Most of the titles have the underlying theme is self-development & team work.
