Gary Owens, Principal Marine Surveyor | Australia & APAC

What do you do at AqualisBraemar?

As a marine surveyor, I have the opportunity to attend various types of vessels in many areas around Australia and Asia Pacific. Some of the places are remote and tend to be in places where not many people would have the chance to visit. I feel my job is very diverse, sometimes challenging, but always interesting.

What excites you the most about our industry?

I never know what the day will bring, it could be a routine survey or a major incident involving a fire, grounding or something totally unexpected.

What made you join AqualisBraemar?

The opportunity to work in places that most other people would never have heard of, such as Rennell Island in the Solomons.

What do you do when you are not working?

Apart from spending quality time with family, I enjoy getting on my dirt bike and heading out into the bush with my best mates to discover places that are normally inaccessible to most people.
