Meet Abdellah Senadjki, Rig inspection services manager, ABL Algeria

At ABL people are our business, and our people are our business. Our teams are constantly expanding, into more locations, in expertise and in sectors of influence, so that our people can truly drive safety and sustainability across our energy and oceans.

Each week we introduce you to another member of our staff, from another country or region, for you to meet the energy behind change…

What do you do at ABL?

I joined ABL about a year ago and I work as a rig inspection services manager in Algeria and the North Africa region. In total I have 13 years in the Petroleum industry, 12 of those years working as a rig inspector. Apart from rig inspection services for land and offshore I’ve got experience in rig commissioning in manufactory and location, rig acceptance inspections, rig pre hiring, rig ATEX inspections, rig dropped object inspections, rig reactivation inspections, rig well control inspections, rig asset integrity surveys, full rig audits and rig commissioning.

Being the first employee of ABL Algeria I deal with projects throughout their lifespan, from the tender process all the way to project completion bringing together my experience with the wider ABL expertise to ensure positive outcomes for our clients.

I can say that my role is challenging but at the same time also the most rewarding experience in my career!

What inspired you to go into the field you are in?

After I graduated as an oil and gas engineer from the University of Boumerdes (INH) in Algeria I decided I enjoyed meeting new people from different cultures and so I pursued a career as a Rig Inspector. I enjoy the fact that I’m constantly travelling to new places, meeting new people and dealing with different projects, constantly expanding my horizons.

What do you enjoy about working at ABL?

At ABL, I really enjoy the culture between people and teams. It really makes life easier and work life nicer. I also enjoy seeing projects from day one and tender preparations to winning the project and working on it until completion as I’m the first member of ABL Algeria and there is lots of responsibility and opportunities involved. Finally, there are lots of events in our field that you need to attend to constantly learn about the latest developments in our industry and develop as a professional.

What is the most exciting aspect of the energy transition for you?

There is no doubt that energy transition is happening and is a good thing. And although the oil & gas sector is becoming more efficient the need for energy is increasing and will continue to increase causing different challenges that will need a solution.

What excites me the most is being part of an organisation such as ABL Group working across both traditional oil & gas sectors and renewables – dealing with today and tomorrow which I believe can really benefit our clients, us, and my career consequently.

What do you enjoy in your spare time?

I really enjoy watching motor sports and when time allows, I go karting. I listen to a lot of music with Algerian Rai music being my favourite. I do also enjoy watching series in my spare time. I’m currently watching ‘’Awakening: The Great Seljuk’’ which I’m enjoying a lot.
