Shoreham Port Sustainability Week 2023
Navigating Port Decarbonisation with Renewables
How could you introduce onshore renewables in your port? What would you need to consider?
Onshore renewables such as solar panels and wind turbines are becoming increasingly relied upon to reduce emissions contributing to climate change and reach international goals for decarbonisation. These technologies have the potential to play a vital role in helping a port in its sustainability journey and strengthening its energy security – but how do we get there?
Whilst there are many opportunities related to installing renewables in ports, there are also several challenges and diverse factors to take into account.
With the support of a case study of the Port of Mombasa, Head of Onshore Renewables Richard Abrams and Marine Data Analyst Chris Cox will be taking a deep dive into the step-by-step process of developing a feasibility study for introducing renewables in a port, the obstacles you may face, and the prospects it could offer.
