Discover OWC at Wind Energy Ireland’s Offshore Wind Conference
Are we on track for Ireland’s 2030 Renewable Energy Targets?
The National Energy and Climate Plan saw Ireland committed to 34% renewable energy targets by 2030, but with the Government’s new offshore wind policy, these targets could be a little out of reach.
The Government policy contains changes that are causing uncertainties around the likelihood of reaching the desired targets. These include the introduction of a condition that all potential offshore wind farms must be built in Designated Marine Areas, (which have yet to be identified) and may not be for another 18-24 months. Another retrain is the instruction that future offshore wind farms will not connect to points on land but to offshore substations to be designed and built by EirGrid.
Join us at Wind Energy Ireland’s Offshore Wind Conference to discuss how we must work to keep the 2023 targets at the forefront of our focus.
