Christoph Ruck, General Manager Germany | AqualisBraemar LOC
What do you do at AqualisBraemar LOC?
After working for about 12 year in the heavy lift and project cargo shipping business, I joined LOC – now AqualisBraemar LOC (ABL) in June 2019 as General Manager of the German operations. Within two years we have set-up the Hamburg office, grown the team and established a sustainable business.
When I look back on this time, I’m really pleased to see how far we have come in developing the business in Germany from scratch. We have managed to gain the trust of our clients and secured long and short-term contracts from all three ABL sectors – Renewables, Maritime and Oil and Gas. At the same time the whole team, including me, is deeply involved in project work and site attendances on marine transportation operations.
And the journey does not stop there. We have concrete growth plans and are intensively involved in delivering on them.
What excites you the most about our industry?
I enjoy working with different people and teams and I like getting my hands dirty when working on-site, as well as my role back in the office.
I like the sales and business development side of work but I’m also always looking for technical challenges – getting involved in engineering calculations and enjoying project management work.
Based on my background I was always interested in participating in innovation and development. The fact that I can have a role in shaping the future of this industry and in making the world safer and greener place, motivates me as well.
What made you join AqualisBraemar LOC?
The opportunity to develop a successful business, build up a team in Germany and establish relationships for ABL in Germany was one of the biggest factors for me.
Another factor was that I don’t need to sit in the office the whole time but can get out of the office and get involved in various operations quite regularly.
What do you do when you are not working?
My free time I spend with my wife and my son.
I like travelling and water sports but currently there is not much time for this next to work and family.
