What do you do at AqualisBraemar LOC?
After having worked in the marine transportation and installation (T&I) industry for several years working with a vessel owner and an EPCI company, I joined ABL in June 2019 as General Manager of the German operations.
Our main task from the get-go, was to set-up the Hamburg office, grow the team and establish a sustainable business. In just a short period of 2 years, we managed to gain the trust of our clients and secure long and short-term contracts. Currently we have an experienced local technical team of 5 members and we are still in a process of growth, so we are able to best respond to the continuous demand in the local renewable energy and shipping markets.
Aside from my management role, I also work as Naval Architect and Project Manager to support our clients on different tasks, mainly relating to marine T&I projects associated to Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) construction.
What excites you the most about our industry?
The most interesting part of working in the consultancy world is having the chance to be involved in a wide variety of interesting projects. One day you’re working as a design engineer for a marine transportation job, the next day you could be acting as marine warranty surveyor for an offshore installation on-site, and then the day after that you may find yourself on an international flight going to a remote location to investigate a marine accident.
What made you join AqualisBraemar LOC?
Challenges and changes are what keep people alive. The excitement of jumping into the adventure of creating a new business from scratch was the main reason behind my decision to take on this role. Beside the technical side of the business which I truly enjoy, having the position to shape the future growth of the group is what makes things even more interesting. Seeing that tireless efforts of our team is slowly paying off, gives me the fuel to keep up the enthusiasm.
What do you do when you are not working?
I was always interested in playing instruments and I can play a couple of them. My girlfriend is quite good at piano which has inspired me also to learn how to play. We just bought a new one and nowadays I am spending my time moving my fingers on the keyboard and using it as a bit of an escape-route from the real world. In addition to that we also babysit our neighbour’s dog quite often during the week which is by far my favourite hobby lately.
