LOC Group was pleased to jointly host a workshop with Harbin Engineering University (HEU), Ocean University of China and City, University of London in Qingdao, China, on 18 and 19 December 2019. The event focused on Offshore Wind Energy (IWOWE) and was co-chaired by Dr R V Ahilan (CEO of LOC), Professor Qingwei Ma (City, University of London), Professor Hongda Shi (Ocean University of China) and Prof. Xing Zheng (HEU).
The event provided an opportunity for industry professionals and academics to discuss achievements in the offshore wind energy industry and the challenges facing further development. Particular emphasis was put on discussing solutions for technology improvement and cost reduction in installation, operation & maintenance operations.
R V Ahilan, CEO of LOC Group, commented:
“We were very pleased to co-host our maiden workshop on Offshore Wind Energy in China. The event was well attended and received positive feedback. A number of important topics for the industry were discussed, including; the potential for AI, how to reduce project costs and the development of future turbine options, all of which have the potential to play an important role in the industry going forward.
We see China as a region which holds considerable growth potential for the offshore wind sector. At a time when world leaders are looking to transition their economies towards using less carbon intensive power sources, we feel that LOC is well placed to advise and assist offshore wind operators on maximising the market opportunity in front of them.”
