Meet Ida Intes, New Operations Manager for ABL Norway
We’re delighted to announce that Ida Intes has been promoted to Operations Manager for ABL’s Energy & Marine Consulting business in Norway.
Ida joined ABL in 2011 as a Project Technical/Document Controller and has since advanced through a range of technical and operational roles. With a Master’s degree in Offshore Subsea and Marine Technology from the University of Stavanger, she has developed strong expertise in project engineering, coordination, and operational delivery.
Her promotion marks an exciting step forward both for her career and for ABL Norway, as she takes on a central role in driving operational excellence, collaboration, and project efficiency across our business.
Subbi Nookala, Country Manager, ABL Norway comments:
“Ida’s promotion to Operations Manager is a testament to her exceptional leadership, technical expertise, and dedication to delivering excellence. Her deep understanding of our clients’ needs and her collaborative approach will be instrumental in strengthening our operational delivery. With Ida in this role, our clients can expect even greater value from ABL Norway. I’m confident she will continue to drive positive impact across our projects and partnerships.”
Now, let’s hear from Ida herself as she shares insights into her new role, what drives her passion for the marine and energy sectors, and how she’s helping to enhance collaboration and efficiency across ABL’s global operations.
Give us a glimpse into your day-to-day life at ABL in your new role as Operations manager. What keeps you on your toes?
“Every day is different and that’s what makes this role so exciting. I oversee project operations, coordinate between our global offices, and ensure deliverables stay on track. There’s a lot of problem-solving involved, whether it’s around resource allocation, timelines, or adapting to evolving client needs.
What keeps me on my toes is balancing operational efficiency with the unexpected challenges that come with a fast-paced environment – all while recognising and supporting the hard work of our teams. It’s a role that demands flexibility, communication, and a proactive mindset.”

What drew you to our industry, and what keeps you passionate about it?
I was drawn to the diversity of the marine and engineering sectors. I enjoy the balance between time in the office and being on site or offshore, it keeps the work dynamic and engaging.
What continues to inspire me is the constant opportunity to learn and grow. Every project brings something new – whether it’s a challenge to solve, a new skill to develop, or a chance to collaborate with experts across different disciplines. That ongoing learning and sense of progress is what keeps me motivated every day.
Can you tell us about something exciting you are working on right now?
Since stepping into this role, one of my main focuses has been improving how we manage and support our projects internally. I’ve been working on refining communication and streamlining processes to make sure our teams are better connected and aligned across offices.
It’s been great to see how even small changes can create a positive ripple effect, improving how we collaborate and how we deliver value to clients. Ultimately, it strengthens our internal culture and enhances the quality and efficiency of our project delivery.

In your view, what are some of the biggest challenges facing your industry, and how can they be effectively addressed?
A big challenge right now is manging the growing complexity of projects and client requirements while keeping efficiency and sustainability in balance.
The best way to address it, I believe, is through collaboration: really tapping into the strengths of our diverse teams and staying open to new tools and ideas. When we share knowledge and support one another, it becomes much easier to deliver high-quality work, even in challenging circumstances.
Beyond the work, what’s your favourite part about being part of the ABL team in Norway?

“Definitely the people. There’s a genuine, down-to-earth culture here where everyone is ready to help each other. It feels less like a workplace and more like a community.
I also really appreciate the balance – we maintain a high level of professionalism, but we also know how to enjoy what we do and celebrate success together. And, of course, being surrounded by Norway’s incredible scenery is an added bonus!”
If you could change one thing about your industry, what would it be and why?
I would encourage even stronger collaboration across the global energy and maritime sectors. There’s tremendous potential in sharing best practices, lessons learned, and new approaches across regions and disciplines.
Breaking down silos would help the entire industry move toward more efficient, safer, and sustainable solutions and that’s something I’d love to see more of in the years ahead.
