ABL Greece July 2025 Market Briefing
Join us for the first ever ABL Greece Maritime Market Briefing, discussing the following topic:
The IMO’s First Global Carbon Pricing Mechanism
MEPC 83 at the IMO concluded in April with the adoption of a net zero framework. It was a hard-fought outcome and, while it certainly falls short of what’s needed to fully meet the climate challenge, it marks a significant step forward – particularly in the current geopolitical climate and amid the declining appetite for international cooperation. The agreement will now be tabled for formal adoption at the extraordinary MEPC session in October.
The deal is undoubtedly ground-breaking, introducing a global price on carbon for the first time. It sends a clear market signal for investment in energy efficiency and low-carbon technologies. This presentation will cover the IMO’s net zero framework, including its development, compliance options, practical implications, and next steps for the maritime sector.
The technical presentation will be followed by a Q&A and a summary of last month’s high-value maritime case reports
When: Wednesday 2nd July, 9:30 – 11:30 AM Eastern European Time
Where: Piraeus Marine Club, Greece. Arrivals for networking coffee, tea and pastries from 9:30 AM
