Senior Engineers – Offshore transportation and installation – The Netherlands.

Following a succession of project wins, ABL Netherlands is looking for an experienced project engineer (Naval Architect/Civil or Structural engineer) with offshore transportation and/or installation experience.

The role.

As a Senior Engineer T&I, you will predominantly work on Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS) and Consultancy projects as directed by the line manager to include, but not be limited to MWS engineering reviews, consultancy, and site attendances, on behalf of energy operators, offshore wind developers and offshore contractors on projects. Your role might also include Offshore/marine transportation, Heavy Lifts, loadout and installation of fixed and floating structures, as well as jack-up rigs and subsea installation operations.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Technical document reviews and site attendances concerning MWS requirements.
  • Attend client meetings and lead the MWS or consultancy agenda during such meetings.
  • Working to meet schedule and budget for MWS and consultancy projects.
  • When managing MWS project(s), you will be:
  • Briefing project staff, risk management, liaising with clients, technical delivery, delegating certain projects/tasks, report writing, checking, authorisation, and submission.
  • Ensuring that the project is delivered by the agreed project technical standards and current industry codes.
  • Responsible for meeting the project schedule and the management of budget and costs.
  • Preparations of bids and tender documents to support the business growth.

You will spend the majority of your time undertaking chargeable project work, delivering value engineering and consultancy to clients’ organisations. The remainder of your time is expected to be spent on preparing quotations and bid documents. The role will include opportunities to work on offshore wind farm construction and maritime projects

The role is based in the Netherlands near Rotterdam, and the incumbent must have the right to work and reside in the Netherlands. The candidate will need to be flexible and medically fit to travel abroad and to offshore locations for periods of time and sometimes at short notice.

Qualifications and experience required

We are looking for a driven and solution-oriented professional with sound technical skills and good decision-making capability. The successful candidate will have good communication and interpersonal skills, strong leadership ability, and be able to deal effectively with multiple issues and assignments simultaneously. In addition, you will:

  • Have a BSc or MSc degree in Naval Architecture, Structural Engineering, Civil or Mechanical Engineering
  • Have relevant offshore transportation and installation experience five years minimum
  • Possess up-to-date knowledge of Loadout, Installation and Transportation methods, Codes of Practice, Rules, and Guidelines
  • Have a good understanding and familiarity with key industry standards for marine operations (e.g., ISO, API, DNV)
  • Be fully proficient in both spoken and written Dutch and English
  • BOSIET, together with a valid offshore medical certificate, will be an advantage
  • SOMWS membership will be an advantage
