We are looking to hire a Marine Consultant (Master Mariner or Marine Engineer) to join our team of experts in a dynamic and growing company that is driving the energy transition. The role

As Marine Consultant (Surveyor), you will be part of our specialist team involved in vessel surveys, technical advice, and consultancy services as well as you will contribute to the development of the Marine and Offshore Operations. Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • To undertake surveys as instructed
  • To undertake consultancy work as instructed
  • Undertake industry-standard inspections as required
  • Assist in energy project marine activities as required
  • Assist in marine emergency response activities
  • Assist in marine legal work, ensuring the proper maintenance of standards and correct and timely invoicing when required
  • Assist with DP-related work as required in accordance with MTS & IMCA guidelines and current industry standards
  • Liaise with other team members regarding the development of FME(C)As
  • Carry out shipboard FME(C)A proving trials and annual trials as required and formulate detailed reports
  • Have a working knowledge of IMCA/ MTS guidance documents and Industry Standards, working towards an in-depth knowledge

The role is based in Aberdeen, and the incumbent has the right to work and reside in the UK. Flexibility to working hours and willingness to travel within Europe, with some offshore attendance, will be required.

Qualifications and experience required

We are looking for a driven and solution-oriented professional with sound technical skills and good decision-making capability. The successful candidate will have good communication and interpersonal skills, strong leadership ability, and be able to deal effectively with multiple issues and assignments simultaneously. In addition, you will:

  • Hold either a Master Mariner (STCW II/2) or a Chief Engineer (STCW III/2) COC
  • Have served as Master or Chief Officer on offshore vessels, or as Chief Engineer, or 2. Engineer capacity on DP vessels
  • Hold a Full DP maintenance certificate
  • Hold DPO Qualification
  • Have well-founded and relevant experience within the Marine or Offshore Industry
  • Have previous office experience (Superintendent / Consultant).
  • Be either OVID or CMID accredited
  • Having exposure to marine consultancy incl. warranty consultancy, inspections, audits, surveys, damage surveys, and project management is a significant advantage
  • Fully conversant with marine and engineering consultancy to the offshore oil and gas markets is an advantage
  • Have strong communication skills and a good command of written and spoken English
