LOC Group, the premier international marine and engineering consulting firm, was pleased to provide technical advice, expertise and support on the wreck removal<\/a> operations of Thorco Cloud, a cargo vessel that sank in two pieces, a mile apart, within the Singapore Straits Traffic Separation Scheme in Indonesian waters in December 2015.<\/p>\n

The wreckage was located at a challenging water depth of about 70-meters, in a highly congested waterway, and was an extremely complex operation, given the need to minimise disruption to traffic in the channel and reduce the risk of further collisions in busy shipping lanes.<\/p>\n

As part of the P&I Club established Casualty Management Team, consisting of a variety of disciplines and companies, the services provided by LOC included; thoroughly assessing and mitigating all risks, acting as extensive liaison with and reporting to authorities and organisations in Indonesia, tendering and evaluating contractors and their methodologies and overseen the execution of the work.<\/p>\n
