{"id":5965,"date":"2018-05-31T11:09:35","date_gmt":"2018-05-31T10:09:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/aqualisoffshore.com\/?p=5965"},"modified":"2018-05-31T11:09:35","modified_gmt":"2018-05-31T10:09:35","slug":"jacket-installation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/all-media\/news\/jacket-installation\/","title":{"rendered":"AqualisBraemar completes jacket installation"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"Text\">AqualisBraemar has completed the jacket installation engineering of an 1800T steel jacket structure offshore Bahrain as part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/bahrainlng.com\/site\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bahrain LNG Import Terminal<\/a>.<\/h3>\n<p class=\"Text\">AqualisBraemar, part of Oslo-listed Aqualis ASA, delivered the project in cooperation with APMC, who were in charge of the <a href=\"http:\/\/aqualisbraemar.com\/services\/offshore-transportation-and-installation-services\/\">transportation and installation<\/a> contract on behalf of its EPC contractor client, GS E&amp;C. AqualisBraemar was contracted by GS E&amp;C to provide loadout, transport and offshore installation of the jacket.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5973\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5973\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5973 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/aqualisbraemar.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/2.tow-jacket-5km-to-site.jpg\" alt=\"jacket installation\" width=\"1000\" height=\"498\" srcset=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/2.tow-jacket-5km-to-site.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/2.tow-jacket-5km-to-site-300x149.jpg 300w, https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/2.tow-jacket-5km-to-site-768x382.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5973\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tow jacket 5km to site<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"Text\">AqualisBraemar\u2019s scope of work provided full engineering services related to the loadout,<s><\/s>transportation and float off operation, towing, positioning, lowering to the seabed and buoyancy tank removal, including all marine procedures. The offshore installation was executed in May 2018. The contract value is undisclosed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Text\">An innovative approach for jacket installation in shallow water was applied by engineering buoyancy tanks to allow the jacket structure to be floated-off the transport vessel, towed to site and lowered to the seabed through ballasting. This negated the need for mobilising any large installation crane vessel.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5970\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5970\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5970 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/aqualisbraemar.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/3.position-jacket.jpg\" alt=\"jacket installation\" width=\"1000\" height=\"644\" srcset=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/3.position-jacket.jpg 1000w, https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/3.position-jacket-300x193.jpg 300w, https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/3.position-jacket-768x495.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5970\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Ballast tanks to lower jacket<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"Text\"><em>\u201cThe jacket, with three of six main piles slotted into the jacket legs, and its buoyancy tanks were loaded out onto pre-installed grillages on the submersible heavy lift vessel using trailers,\u201d<\/em> says Phil Lenox, director \u2013 Asia Pacific, AqualisBraemar.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Text\">The <i>Wish Way<\/i>heavy lift vessel was utilised to transport the jacket from SKMT (Samkang M&amp;T) in Goseong Yard, South Korea to its destination at its final location offshore Bahrain at 20 metres water depth.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Text\"><em>\u201cOn arrival, the heavy lift vessel was ballasted down for the jacket to be floated off at a suitable nearby site and towed 5km to the installation location in shallow water. Following positioning between the breakwater and jetty structure, the buoyancy tanks were ballasted to lower the jacket to the seabed. After driving the main piles, the buoyancy tanks were removed from the jacket structure by releasing connecting pins and deballasting the tanks for recovery,\u201d<\/em> adds Lenox.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Text\">AqualisBraemar managed the jacket installation project out of its Singapore office.
