{"id":44695,"date":"2023-06-13T13:22:00","date_gmt":"2023-06-13T12:22:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/?p=44695"},"modified":"2023-06-20T09:19:03","modified_gmt":"2023-06-20T08:19:03","slug":"abl-to-support-the-construction-of-eolmed-pilot-floating-offshore-wind-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/all-media\/news\/abl-to-support-the-construction-of-eolmed-pilot-floating-offshore-wind-project\/","title":{"rendered":"ABL to support the construction of Eolmed pilot floating offshore wind project"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Energy and marine consultancy <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/\"><strong>ABL<\/strong><\/a><strong> has been awarded the <a href=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/loss-prevention\/marine-warranty-survey\/mws-renewables\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">marine warranty surveyor (MWS)<\/a> contract to cover the offshore construction, transportation and installation (\u2018T&amp;I\u2019) of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qair.energy\/en\/floating-wind-eolmed-announces-the-fid-of-its-30mw-french-mediterranean-pilot-project\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Eolmed floating offshore wind farm<\/a>, for independent renewable energy producer <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.qair.energy\/en\/\"><strong>Qair<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;ABL has long played an active part in France&#8217;s offshore wind development, whether as independent engineering consultant or marine warranty survey on France&#8217;s first offshore wind projects.&#8221;<\/p>\n<cite>Fabien Thomas, Head of MWS Services in ABL Paris<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Eolmed involves the development of a pre-commercial floating offshore windfarm with a total capacity of 30MW, 66kV, 18 kilometres off the coast of Gruissan and Port-la Nouvelle, France, in the Mediterranean Sea. The farm will consist of three turbines connected to a floating electrical hub by inter-array cables at a water depth of around 60 metres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This project was awarded to Qair by the French authorities in 2015, to test and demonstrate the efficiency of the technology and the viability of the floating wind industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ABL\u2019s operations in France, headquartered in Paris, will support Qair with MWS services covering T&amp;I operations for the turbines, dynamic cables and floating electrical hub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;We look forward to working together with Qair and their different stakeholders to make this challenging and exciting project a reference project for French floating wind. We know that EolMed will make a significant contribution to the commercial-scale development of the French offshore wind industry and to help France to transition towards a greener future.&#8221;<\/p>\n<cite>Fabien Thomas<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>The offshore construction activities are due to start in summer 2023 with the installation of the floating electrical hub offshore Port-la Nouvelle.
