{"id":44440,"date":"2023-06-13T10:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-06-13T09:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/?p=44440"},"modified":"2023-06-13T09:51:11","modified_gmt":"2023-06-13T08:51:11","slug":"ongc-completes-36-pre-monsoon-rig-moves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/all-media\/news\/ongc-completes-36-pre-monsoon-rig-moves\/","title":{"rendered":"ONGC completes 36 pre-monsoon rig moves"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>ABL has successfully assisted India\u2019s Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) with moving 36 offshore drilling rigs to new locations in advance of the monsoon season.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ABL have assisted as tow master and marine warranty service (MWS) provider on the rig moves, which equals the record of 36 pre-monsoon rig moves from 2021. The moves were conducted using ABL\u2019s specialist team of mariners supported by structural and geotechnical engineers, in close cooperation with ONGC\u2019s in-house rig move cell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each of the 36 rigs were placed at their respective monsoon locations before the onset of the seasonal adverse weather conditions. The combined total distance travelled for all rigs was 3,680 nautical miles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ABL acted for ONGC\u2019s underwriters, and their appointed consultants, for the duration of the rig moving campaign. Under the agreement, ABL provided marine warranty services to ONGC\u2019s fleet of jack-ups and mobile offshore production units in Indian waters.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Stephen-Craig.jpg\" alt=\"Stephen Craig\" class=\"wp-image-12419\" width=\"216\" height=\"216\" srcset=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Stephen-Craig.jpg 500w, https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Stephen-Craig-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Stephen-Craig-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 216px) 100vw, 216px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>\u201cMoving 36 rigs in such a short time frame to new locations before the onset of the southwest monsoon is quite an achievement. Rig moves in the Indian offshore areas, even during normal weather conditions, pose huge challenges to both the tow master and MWS services that must manage environmental, tidal, bathymetric and soil challenges. However, the joint ABL and ONGC team made this a safe and well executed campaign,\u201d says Captain Stephen Craig \u2013 Middle East and India Operations Manager and ABL\u2019s Jack-up Rig Steering Group leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In total, ABL has assisted with more than 100 rig moves offshore India during the previous season from September 2022 to June 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div
