{"id":4124,"date":"2018-05-23T11:13:50","date_gmt":"2018-05-23T11:13:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:3000\/?p=4124"},"modified":"2018-05-23T11:13:50","modified_gmt":"2018-05-23T11:13:50","slug":"rina-damaged-ship-iv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/events\/rina-damaged-ship-iv\/","title":{"rendered":"RINA &#8211; Damaged Ship IV"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Recent incidents at sea have shown that investigations and understanding of the behaviour of damaged ships are as important as ever. \u00a0Significant progress has been made over the past ten years but there still remain numerous scientific and practical challenges.\u00a0 On 16 and 17 May 2018, The Royal Institution of Naval Architects held its fourth international conference on the subject which LOC London supported, as they have the previous three.<\/p>\n<p>LOC London\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/localhost:3000\/our-people\/baiqian-jiang\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Baiqian Jiang<\/a> presented a paper on the <strong><em>Challenges in Hydrostatic Modelling of a Casualty Sinking Sequence <\/em><\/strong>at RINA\u2019s Damaged Ship IV.<\/p>\n<p>The presentation covered the problems encountered in ship casualty modelling to assess residual stability when there may be little evidence on which to base reliable hydrostatic analyses.\u00a0 He addressed the assumptions required in respect of the loss of initial stability and the subsequent internal cargo \/ fluid movement.
