With extensive experience of wind turbine design and engineering, Camp joins LOC Renewables from DNV GL, and will lead across a series of new business activities in offshore wind.<\/p>\n<p>The offshore wind industry saw record growth in 2017, with the Global Wind Energy Council reporting the installation of over 4.3GW of new capacity globally. With a network of 30 dedicated offices around the world, LOC continues to expand and diversify its service offering to the marine energy sector, as it aims to derive 20% of its income from clean energy by 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining LOC Renewables, Camp spent 19 years at Garrad Hassan and DNV GL, where he led the Turbine Engineering team, and was most recently DNV GL\u2019s EMEA Business Development Director for energy advisory services. At LOC Renewables he will lead a series of new initiatives related to marine engineering and consultancy, turbine device technology and offshore clean energy assessments, while continuing as co-convener of the International Electrotechnical Commission\u2019s working group on design standards for offshore wind turbines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re delighted that Tim is bringing his significant expertise in offshore energy technology and business leadership to LOC Renewables,\u201d said <a href=\"http:\/\/localhost:3000\/our-people\/rv-ahilan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RV Ahilan<\/a>, Group Director of Renewables Advisory &amp; Energy Technology at LOC Renewables.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis deep understanding of turbine engineering, expertise in numerical modelling, and knowledge of some of the most rapidly developing offshore markets, such as those in China and Taiwan, will be instrumental in driving LOC Renewables\u2019 growth. I\u2019d like to welcome him to the wider management team, and am confident he will prove to be an invaluable asset for the business going forwards.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With a strong background in business consultancy across East Asia, Camp will be speaking on construction and O&amp;M challenges in Taiwan\u2019s offshore wind market as part of LOC Renewables\u2019 \u2018Knowledge Sharing in Taiwan\u2019 seminar, which will take place at the Institute of Transportation in Taipei on Tuesday, 20 March.<\/p>\n<p>As Taiwanese offshore energy continues to attract strong interest from developers, and with a number of large projects due to begin construction as early as 2019, the seminar will focus on how the efficient transfer of knowledge and experience gained in European offshore wind markets can ensure the success of what remains a nascent market.
