{"id":19004,"date":"2021-06-08T09:44:12","date_gmt":"2021-06-08T08:44:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/?p=19004"},"modified":"2021-06-08T09:44:13","modified_gmt":"2021-06-08T08:44:13","slug":"dolwin5-export-cable-work-for-aqualisbraemar-loc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/all-media\/news\/dolwin5-export-cable-work-for-aqualisbraemar-loc\/","title":{"rendered":"DolWin5 export cable work for AqualisBraemar LOC"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Energy and marine engineering consultancy<a href=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/\"> AqualisBraemar LOC Group<\/a> has been contracted to provide <a href=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/loss-prevention\/marine-warranty-survey\/mws-renewables\/\">marine warranty services<\/a> for the export cable installation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennet.eu\/our-grid\/offshore-projects-germany\/dolwin5\/\">DolWin5<\/a> offshore grid connection project in Germany.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AqualisBraemar LOC\u2019s scope of work covers all marine transportation and installation operations relating to the cable laying of export cables. It will also include the <a href=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/loss-prevention\/marine-surveys-inspections-and-audits\/\">suitability surveys<\/a> of all construction and support vessels relating to the warranted operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With DolWin5 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennet.eu\/#&amp;panel1-1\">TenneT<\/a> implements a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission system in the German part of the North Sea. It will connect the <a href=\"https:\/\/orsted.com\/en\/our-business\/offshore-wind\/our-offshore-wind-farms\">Borkum Riffgrund 3 offshore wind farm<\/a> to the extra-high voltage grid onshore. The cable route runs about 100km offshore through the North Sea, Nearshore Area and Ems Wadden Sea and a further 30km onshore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The grid connection will have a transmission capacity of 900 MW. It is a first of its kind in that TenneT will connect the wind turbines directly via 66kV three-phase electric power cables to the offshore platform, eliminating the need for substations, and delivering considerable cost savings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis innovative project will realise a new connectivity concept, which could herald significant cost savings in future offshore wind and grid connectivity projects,\u201d says <a href=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/people\/christoph-ruck\/\">Christoph Ruck<\/a>, who is AqualisBraemar LOC\u2019s joint country manager in Germany. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AqualisBraemar LOC\u2019s office in Hamburg has been appointed under a <a href=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/all-media\/news\/loc-germany-awarded-mws-framework-agreement-by-tennet\/\">framework agreement with TenneT<\/a>. The framework agreement was awarded in autumn 2020, making AqualisBraemar LOC pre-vetted providers of marine warranty services to support the realization of a several offshore grid connection projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBeing appointed on such a cutting-edge project, is testament to our world-leading reputation as an MWS provider to marine <a href=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/renewable-energy-engineering-consultants\/\">renewable<\/a> projects.
