{"id":17200,"date":"2019-04-11T08:14:51","date_gmt":"2019-04-11T08:14:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost:3000\/?p=5690"},"modified":"2019-04-11T08:14:51","modified_gmt":"2019-04-11T08:14:51","slug":"asian-marine-casualty-forum-2019-kicks-off-with-record-attendance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/all-media\/news\/asian-marine-casualty-forum-2019-kicks-off-with-record-attendance\/","title":{"rendered":"Asian Marine Casualty Forum 2019 kicks off with record attendance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The third edition of the Asian Marine Casualty Forum (AMCF) hosted by LOC, the leading international marine and engineering consultancy, made a resounding start today with almost 400 delegates from more than 20 countries.<\/p>\n<p>AMCF is a unique gathering organised for the industry by the industry and this year\u2019s theme is: \u201c<em>Marine casualties in the 21st century \u2013 is the industry coping<\/em>?\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Since its inception in 2015, AMCF has become one of the cornerstone events of Singapore Maritime Week taking place this week (April 6-14) and is now recognised as the leading event of its kind.<\/p>\n<p>The two-day event, held at Marina Bay Sands Expo &amp; Convention Centre, was inaugurated this morning by Guest-of-honour Ms Magdalene Chew, President of WISTA (Women\u2019s International Shipping &amp; Trading Association) Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Chew spoke about sustainability in the maritime industry and the urgent need for collective solutions to address issues relating to a chronic gender imbalance throughout the sector along with the increasing shortage of well-trained seafarers.<\/p>\n<p>The speaker line-up for ACMF 2019, which includes salvors, P&amp;I Clubs, marine lawyers, authorities, associations and unions, reflects the broad spectrum of the marine salvage and casualty industry that comes together every two years to address the critical issues of the day including the future of the Lloyd\u2019s Open Form and the industry\u2019s ability to handle large and complex shipping casualties.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s AMCF has garnered support from 14 official industry associations as well as more than 30 sponsors.<\/p>\n<p>The key topics presented on day one of AMCF included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Relationships between the marine salvors and insurers in view of changes in the operating environment<\/li>\n<li>Qualitative Risk Assessment &amp; Risk Transfer in marine salvage \u2013 should the salvor or the insurer bear the risk?<\/li>\n<li>Ports of Refuge \u2013 collaboration between state and industry<\/li>\n<li>Lloyd\u2019s Open Form and other salvage agreements<\/li>\n<li>Case studies on <em>MT Sanchi<\/em> and <em>MV Rena<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Andrew Squire, Deputy Chairman of LOC, said today: \u201cWe are heartened by today\u2019s record attendance which vindicates not only our decision to host the AMCF for the third time, but more importantly, the unstinting support we have received from the 33 forum sponsors and 14 industry supporters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLOC is determined to make AMCF 2019 an event which is hosted for the industry and by the industry and we believe it has now become a significant forum for the discussion of the critical issues now facing the marine casualty sector.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The full list of forum sponsors, forum supporters, speaker line-up and agenda can be found on the official AMCF website: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amcf2019.com\">www.amcf2019.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The third edition of the Asian Marine Casualty Forum (AMCF) hosted by LOC, the leading international marine and engineering consultancy, made a resounding start today with almost 400 delegates from more than 20 countries.
