Ian passed away on Monday 22 February 2021.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/owcltd.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Ian-Bonnon.jpg\" alt=\"Ian Bonnon\" class=\"wp-image-2458\" width=\"250\" height=\"310\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Having made a full recovery from lung cancer two and a half years ago, Ian was diagnosed with liver and bone cancer last December. Ian was upbeat and positive whilst trying to support those around him, but sadly the cancer progressed quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ian was and will remain a well-respected and much-loved figure in the offshore renewables industry. He had nearly 40 years\u2019 experience in the offshore wind, oil and gas, marine and subsea cable industries, and he combined his broad knowledge with his own exceptional management style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>OWC was founded by Ian in 2011 to provide consultancy services to offshore wind farm developers and investors, which, under his excellent leadership, grew into the multi-national company we see today and of which he was very proud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ian had his own unique blend of professionalism combined with a mischievous side, which brought a special feeling to those with whom he worked. So much more than our Managing Director and then Chairman, he put into action true leadership, mentoring, and brought out the best in people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ian had a great sense of humour and fun. He was a keen golfer, achieving a hole in one, and was a collector and dealer of specialist antique glass who really enjoyed the thrill of an auction. He was also very generous with his time, and for many years was the Chairman of his local football club, giving an opportunity for youngsters to develop their skills on and off the pitch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Charity was close to Ian\u2019s heart, and as Ian was looking towards retirement, he had set up his own \u2013 The IDB Charity. He had already raised excellent sums of money supporting cancer and homelessness charities and had planned to do so much more.
