You know ABL Group, but do you know our team?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-a-glimpse-into-your-day-at-abl-amp-what-keeps-you-on-your-toes\">A glimpse into your day at ABL &amp; what keeps you on your toes?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 38%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p>&#8220;My day-to-day is pretty varied; I\u2019m currently involved in dozens of projects across multiple offices within the Group. A typical day might include reviewing engineering and operational documents, organising and supporting project attendances, meeting with clients and subcontractors or supporting junior engineers as they build up their T&amp;I and <a href=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/service\/mws-decommissioning\/\">decommissioning<\/a> skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I also still spend a reasonable amount of time onsite or offshore overseeing installation and decommissioning activities either as a Client Technical Representative or the <a href=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/loss-prevention\/marine-warranty-survey\/\">Marine Warranty Surveyor<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/div><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/kevin-sirski-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-125553 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/kevin-sirski-1.png 800w, https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/kevin-sirski-1-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/kevin-sirski-1-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/kevin-sirski-1-768x768.png 768w, https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/kevin-sirski-1-600x600.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-drew-you-to-our-industry-and-what-keeps-you-passionate-about-it\">What drew you to our industry and what keeps you passionate about it?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I get this question a lot; especially since I grew up in the Canadian prairies. My path into the maritime world started early; when I was three, my eldest brother made a diorama of the Titanic sinking. I was completely captivated, and that sparked a lifelong fascination with the Titanic and ships in general, which eventually led me to become a Naval Architect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My transition from maritime into marine and offshore energy came about when I was hired as an intern by, what would become, ABL Norway while I was still at university. I was immediately drawn to the diversity of the work, especially offshore heavy lifting. That fascination with the complexity and variety of offshore T&amp;I and decommissioning is what\u2019s kept me at ABL, in one role or another, 17 years on from that first internship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-can-you-tell-us-about-something-exciting-you-are-working-on-right-now\">Can you tell us about something exciting you are working on right now?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Right now, I\u2019m working closely with client teams on early-phase planning for decommissioning North Sea assets. In some cases, we\u2019ve got plenty of options on paper , but no clear or practical way to actually remove the assets. Many of the assets we\u2019re dealing with have been in service for over 30 years, some have had multiple owners &amp; operators, and most have undergone countless modifications over time. Unfortunately, proper documentation hasn\u2019t always followed those changes. More often than not, there\u2019s no central database to rely on. If we\u2019re lucky, we might find original design and installation documents tucked away in hard copy, buried in archive boxes, which makes getting accurate information a real challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To tackle this, experienced engineers and mariners typically go out to audit the asset firsthand. They gather what they can and convert it into modern structural engineering models so we can design a workable solution. Thankfully, this process is becoming more streamlined thanks to advances in digitalisation and AI, which are helping us build better workflows and improve efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-beyond-the-work-what-s-your-favourite-part-about-being-part-of-the-abl-team-in-aberdeen-any-fun-team-moments-you-d-like-to-share\">Beyond the work, what\u2019s your favourite part about being part of the ABL team in Aberdeen?
