Energy and marine consultancy ABL<\/strong><\/a> has been appointed as <\/strong>marine warranty survey (MWS)<\/strong><\/a> to support the installation of Australia\u2019s Marinus Link interconnector<\/a> \u2013 a critical energy infrastructure project in facilitating Australia\u2019s energy transition.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the contract, ABL\u2019s operations in Australia will provide marine warranty survey services to support the marine transportation and installation (T&I) campaign for the submarine part of the interconnector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Marinus Link project will construct a 345-kilometre-long interconnector between Tasmania and Victoria, with 255 kilometres running undersea across Australia\u2019s Bass Strait. The asset is recognised by the Australian Energy Market Operator as essential in supporting the transition of the country\u2019s energy mix from coal-fired power, enhancing renewable energy integration and storage in the wider Australian grid network, and enabling the efficient flow of energy between Tasmania and Victoria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It will facilitate the interconnection of enough power to support the equivalent of 1.5 million homes, including providing wider access to renewable energy as more of it comes online. Under its scope of work, ABL will support Stage 1 of the Marinus Link development, including transportation operations, trenching, cable lay and cable burial operations, landfall and pull-in operations. Services will include the technical review of project documentation, drawings and calculations, vessel suitability surveys and assurance<\/a> for the proposed specialised fleet, DP assurance<\/a> where relevant, and on-site attendance to witness and approve warranted operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ABL \u2013 part of Oslo-listed global consultancy ABL Group<\/a> \u2013 has been operational in Australia since 1988.
