Tell us a bit about yourself and your career so far<\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n“I\u2019ve had a diverse and exciting career in the maritime and leisure industries. It started with driving superyachts based in Monaco, which gave me a first hand perspective of the high-end luxury marine sector. I\u2019ve also managed a Flow Rider water park, worked as a yacht broker, and spent time as a semi-professional sailor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Later, I transitioned into shipyard management, where I honed my operational and project management skills, and subsequently into roles as a marine investigator and ISM auditor, focusing on compliance and safety. <\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\nWhat inspired you to join the industry?<\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\nGrowing up in Auckland, famously known as the \u201cCity of Sails,\u201d I was surrounded by the ocean and a vibrant maritime community. The Americas Cup races held here were a huge inspiration and gave me my first exposure to the industry. My first job was helping with the event, and I\u2019ve been hooked on the maritime world ever since.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Why the move to New Zealand for ABL, and what are the plans ahead?<\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\nABL has an outstanding global reputation, and bringing its expertise to New Zealand feels like a natural fit. New Zealand is a maritime nation, with thriving ports, extensive shipping activity, and a significant yachting culture. Establishing the ABL office here allows us to provide local expertise with global backing, focusing on marine consultancy services such as casualty investigation<\/a>, risk assessment<\/a>, ports and harbours<\/a> support, and energy transition<\/a> projects. Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?<\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\nI\u2019m happiest when I\u2019m on or near the water\u2014whether it\u2019s surfing, sailing, or enjoying water sports with my kids. I\u2019m also a two-time European Women\u2019s Flowriding Champion, a journey that allowed me to compete internationally and experience incredible places around the world. Spending time at the beach with my family remains my favourite way to relax and recharge\ud83c\udfd6\ufe0f<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What makes maritime an exciting and rewarding career choice for women?<\/mark><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\nMaritime offers incredible opportunities for women, and I\u2019m passionate about promoting diversity within the industry. While it has traditionally been male-dominated, the tide is changing, and I\u2019m proud to be part of this shift as a board member for WISTA NZ (Women\u2019s International Shipping & Trading Association). Through this role, I advocate for greater inclusion and aim to inspire other women to see the maritime sector as a place where they can thrive and make a significant impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
