{"id":122026,"date":"2024-10-09T09:22:24","date_gmt":"2024-10-09T08:22:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/?p=122026"},"modified":"2024-10-09T09:46:48","modified_gmt":"2024-10-09T08:46:48","slug":"abl-appointed-to-frances-centre-manche-offshore-grid-connections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/all-media\/news\/abl-appointed-to-frances-centre-manche-offshore-grid-connections\/","title":{"rendered":"ABL appointed to France\u2019s Centre Manche offshore grid connections"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/\"><strong>Energy and marine consultancy ABL<\/strong><\/a><strong> has been appointed as <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/loss-prevention\/marine-warranty-survey\/mws-renewables\/\"><strong>marine warranty surveyor<\/strong><\/a><strong> to support the marine transportation and installation (T&amp;I) operations relating to the construction of the grid connection system known as Centre Manche 1 and Centre Manche 2, offshore Normandy, France.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Centre Manche 1 and Centre Manche 2 are part of two offshore wind projects \u2013 Appel d\u2019Offre 4 (AO4) and Appel d\u2019Offre 8 (AO8) \u2013 that aim to contribute towards the French government\u2019s ambition of allocating 1 GW of offshore wind energy per year, from 2023 onwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Centre Manche 1 will connect the AO4 (1,050) offshore wind farm and part of AO8 (200MW) to the 400 kV substation at Menuel through a 100 km long DC export cable. Centre Manche 2 will connect the A08 offshore wind farm to the 400 kV substation at Tourbe via a 105 km long DC cable. Both offshore substations will each have a capacity of 1.25 GW.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ABL\u2019s operations in France will act as marine warranty surveyor (MWS) for the transportation and installation campaign for the Centre Manche 1 and 2 offshore substations, the 100 km long DC export cable, and the three 2 km long interstation links.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The platforms will be sister topsides, with an estimated weight of 13,300 tonnes each, while the jackets will weigh approximately 7,000 tons each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ABL\u2019s scope of work will cover the technical review and approval of all T&amp;I engineering documentation pertaining to warranted activities, participation to HAZID\/HAZOP meetings, <a href=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/loss-prevention\/marine-surveys-inspections-and-audits\/\">suitability surveys of the installation vessels<\/a>, onshore and offshore attendances to approve the marine operations, and issue of certificates of approval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"800\" src=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Hugues-Delanoue.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-121656\" style=\"width:168px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Hugues-Delanoue.jpg 800w, https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Hugues-Delanoue-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Hugues-Delanoue-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Hugues-Delanoue-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Hugues-Delanoue-600x600.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Being selected for this project reflects our technical reputation in the French market, particularly for T&amp;I work for France&#8217;s offshore wind projects, including bottom-fixed platforms and subsea cables.
