{"id":120066,"date":"2024-07-22T08:29:01","date_gmt":"2024-07-22T07:29:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/?p=120066"},"modified":"2024-07-22T08:29:03","modified_gmt":"2024-07-22T07:29:03","slug":"abl-to-support-offshore-installation-of-french-spanish-interconnector","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/all-media\/news\/abl-to-support-offshore-installation-of-french-spanish-interconnector\/","title":{"rendered":"ABL to support offshore installation of French-Spanish interconnector"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Energy and marine consultancy ABL has been awarded a contract by <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.inelfe.eu\/en\"><strong>INELFE (INterconexi\u00f3n EL\u00e9ctrica Francia-Espa\u00f1a)<\/strong><\/a><strong> to provide <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/loss-prevention\/marine-warranty-survey\/mws-renewables\/\"><strong>marine warranty survey (MWS)<\/strong><\/a><strong> services to oversee the offshore transportation and installation (T&amp;I) of the Biscay interconnector between France and Spain.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>INELFE is the joint company set up by the French and Spanish electricity transmission system operators, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rte.ie\/\">R\u00e9seau de Transport d&#8217;\u00c9lectricit\u00e9<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ree.es\/es\">Red El\u00e9ctrica<\/a> de Espa\u00f1a, and is responsible for building and activating the French-Spanish interconnectors (first Baixas-Santa Llogaia and now Biscay Gulf) to increase the interchange capacity between the Iberian Peninsula and the rest of Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project, co-financed by the European Union, is a PCI (Project of Common Interest) and consists of installing the interconnections between the Gatika substation near Bilbao, Spain and the Cubnezais substation in the French region of Aquitaine. It will consist of four cables, two per link. It will have a transmission capacity of 2 x 1,000 MW. In total, almost 400 km of land and mainly subsea interconnector cables using High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) technology will be installed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"748\" height=\"804\" src=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/H-Delanoue-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-120176\" style=\"width:231px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/H-Delanoue-1.jpg 748w, https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/H-Delanoue-1-279x300.jpg 279w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 748px) 100vw, 748px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Interconnectors play an increasingly crucial role in our modern energy systems. Our track-record covers experience supporting the construction of some of the world&#8217;s most significant interconnector projects in Europe, Americas, Middle East and Asia Pacific. In short, we have the experience and the technical expertise to support this challenging project.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/people\/hugues-delanoue\/\">Hugues Delanoue<\/a>, Managing Director of ABL in France <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>ABL\u2019s scope of work includes the technical document review of all procedures, drawings and calculations relating to warranted operations, <a href=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/loss-prevention\/marine-surveys-inspections-and-audits\/vessel-and-marine-assurance\/\">suitability survey of the proposed fleet <\/a>including <a href=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/loss-prevention\/marine-surveys-inspections-and-audits\/dynamic-positioning-dp-critical-systems\/\">dynamic positioning (DP) trials<\/a> where relevant, and on-site attendance at the offshore operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The project has been awarded to <a href=\"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/location\/france\/?company=0&amp;post_type=office&amp;submit=Search\">ABL\u2019s operations in France<\/a>, based in Paris.
