We are happy to announce the successful completion of ABL’s inaugural Vessel Operations Course – part of our global maritime familiarisation course programme to support industry stakeholders. This three-day event aimed to provide participants from the world of hull & machinery (H&M), P&I and maritime law, with a unique insight into the operations of a working merchant vessel.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The course took place on the DFDS<\/a> cruise ferry KING SEAWAYS, a 31,788 GT vessel with a capacity of 2,280 passengers. It departed Newcastle on the 11th<\/sup> of June, travelling to Amsterdam and returning back to Newcastle on the 13th<\/sup> of June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About ABL’s Vessel Operations Course <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the course of the programme, 12 delegates from across maritime insurance and law firms, had a chance to observe the cruise ferry arrival and departure procedures, experiencing the bridge and engine room. Delegates heard from the chief officer about deck and navigational operations and from the engineers on maintenance and engine room operations. Additionally, the participants toured the operational areas of the vessels and participated in classroom style technical lectures delivered by ABL’s maritime consultants, Paul Martin<\/a> and Paul Johnston<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
