{"id":11531,"date":"2020-06-01T15:06:51","date_gmt":"2020-06-01T07:06:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aqualisbraemar.com\/?p=11531"},"modified":"2020-06-01T15:06:51","modified_gmt":"2020-06-01T07:06:51","slug":"despite-covid-19-ongc-successfully-moves-33-drilling-rigs-in-pre-monsoon-rush","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abl-group.com\/abl\/all-media\/news\/despite-covid-19-ongc-successfully-moves-33-drilling-rigs-in-pre-monsoon-rush\/","title":{"rendered":"Despite Covid-19, ONGC successfully moves 33 drilling rigs in pre-monsoon rush"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Despite severe constraints caused by the Covid-19 lockdown in India, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has safely and successfully moved a total of 33 offshore jack-up rigs to new drilling locations ahead of the adverse weather conditions associated with the Indian monsoon season.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cMoving so many rigs to new locations before the onset of the south west monsoon is always an annual challenge, but it was an even bigger achievement this year considering the travel limitations and constraints caused by the Covid-19 lockdown in India,\u201d<\/p><cite>Rodger Dickson, group director \u2013 offshore<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>AqualisBraemar,&nbsp;consultants to the energy, marine, renewables and insurance sectors, assisted with ONGC\u2019s rig moves. The moves were conducted using AqualisBraemar\u2019s specialist team of mariners supported by their structural and geotechnical engineers working in close cooperation with ONGC\u2019s in-house rig move cell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each of the 33 rigs were placed at their respective monsoon locations before the onset of the seasonal adverse weather conditions. Of these, 24 rigs were moved on to or from wellhead platforms and 9 rigs to open locations. The combined total towing distance for all rigs was approximately 1,900 nautical miles.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AqualisBraemar\u2019s clients for the rig moving campaign were ONGC\u2019s underwriters and their appointed consultants.
